According to BBC News the UK could adopt the Swedish/Norwegian bottle recycling system. Fantastic! Finally!
So what’s it all about? Well you basically pay a little more for your bottle of water, soda or wine like a deposit. When you have consumed your drink you take it back to a recycling area in the store and get that deposit back. Boom! Your bottle is saved and can be recycled over and over and won’t pollute the planet.
I can’t remember a time when we didn’t have this system in Sweden and I’m old!
I also remember in the 80’s when we left all secondary packaging like paper boxes for toothpaste for the cashier at the supermarket to deal with. Needless to say unnecessary secondary packaging disappeared after awhile.
