I love beauty products and make-up and have done since I was really young. My best Christmas present when I was 8 was a baby-blue nail polish, I was also allowed an apple flavoured lip-gloss that came in a funny tin. My most treasured possessions at the time 🙂
Nothing has changed. I still love my beauty products but I prefer them to be as “clean” as possible.
We expose ourselves to a cocktail of chemicals every day just by doing a minimum amount of grooming. Showering, moisturizing, deodorizing, brushing our teeth..
It’s estimated that a women slap on an average of 2 kilograms of pure chemicals every year!! (for men that number is 1 kilogram)
We don’t really know how the body deals with all these substances or what happens when they are mixed with other chemicals.
A product might contain a substance that has been deemed safe in small amounts but this does not take in to consideration the cocktail-effect you get by using several products on top of each other.
Some of these products contains chemicals that are questionable and possible harmful for the environment and for our health.
Big brands are changing but only if there is a possibility of a big dent to their revenue. Body Shop and L’Oréal are facing out suspected cancer causing PFAS chemicals thanks to consumer pressure and boycotts.
But big corporations also spend large amounts of money to lobby for the continuous use of chemicals that have been classed as harmful as we’ve seen in the case of preservative PHMB.
I chose to buy most of my beauty products from brands with a mission to sell products that are gentle on the environment and ANY living organism.
We are spoilt for choice with new interesting products hitting the market on an almost a daily basis.
If a brands main mission is to provide clean and effective products, well, then I’m in!

This might be my longest video ever 🙂
It’s all about the clean and half clean beauty products I have been trying lately. Hope you like it!
This month’s beauty buys included the most important item in my make-up bag: Tweezermans slanted tweezers.
I thought I lost mine and ran to Whole Foods for a new one,
of course I found it under my bed when I was vacuuming a few hours later.
The shampoo from Intelligent Nutrients is completely gluten-free and smells minty and up-lifting.
The tinted lip moisturizer is from my fave brand Ilia and is in the super flattering colour Blossom Lady.
I needed a new body moisturizer and this one by Balance Me smells lovely of rose otto and I like the fact they are stocked by Waitrose.
I also got a new christmassy red colour nail polish from Kure Bazar in Cherie.
Kure Bazaar is definitely my favorinte non-toxic nail polish brand as the polish is really long-lasting in comes in great on trend colours.
I managed to pack my own bag, the kids bags and made them dinner in only 20 minutes as we set off to Stockholm this summer.
This is a record for me!
Needless to say there were necessary items that did not come with us, like body wash and shampoo, hence a mad rush for new products as soon as we landed.
I bought Bjork and Berries gorgeously scented Never Spring body wash .
Bjork and Berries describe themselves as an eco luxury beauty brand derived by Swedish nature and traditions.
The body wash contains no sulphates but a “mild preservatives”. You can get this brand in the UK and online.
I also got Estelle and Thilde shampoo and conditioner, another Swedish brand.
I find this shampoo keeps my hair clean for one day longer than other shampoos, it doesn’t lather greatly but certainly cleans well.
The conditioner first feels heavy when you put it in your hand but when you apply it to the hair it sort of disappears and it’s not heavy at all.
I can’t live without lipstick.
If I could only chose one product to use for the rest of my life it would be a lipstick and I’m particularly impressed with Ilia’s lipstick In My Room.
This is a repeat buy for me, I pray it’s never discontinued!
It’s the perfect nude.
I’m all for extra sparkle to my skin when going out and Living Luminizer by RMS does the trick.
It’s really subtle and sheer and very easy to use.
I apply it to my cheeks, bridge of the nose and just above the eye brows.
This quick and easy chocolate recipe is a godsend when I’m beyond desperate for chocolate.
Because it’s so incredibly quick to make and I always have all the ingredients at home anyway, I don’t hit the corner shop for something containing god-knows-what.
Within 10 minutes you will be able to feast on crunchy chocolaty treats that will defiantly keep you satisfied AND improve your health as well 🙂
1/3 Cup Raw coconut Oil (excellent for liver protection, you can read more HERE)
1 tablespoon of Raw cacao powder (full of antioxidants, Magnesium and Iron)
Stevia or Coconut Nectar to taste (I use 2 teaspoons of coconut nectar)
Pinch of Himalayan Crystal salt
This is the base the rest is optional or just add the super foods you have lurking in your cupboard.
2 Tablespoons of Quinoa Pops (I always have these at home since my kids have them for breakfast)
1 Teaspoon of Maca Powder (perfect for balancing your hormones, and let’s not beat around the bush, my chocolate craving appears once a month)
1 teaspoon of Nutritional Yeast (packed with B vitamins and also brings an added taste level)
Melt the coconut oil, add all the remaining ingredients, Pour into an ice tray and leave in the freezer for about 7 minutes.
