Fresh Coconut Scrub

I love making homemade nut milks but I always feel bad about throwing away the left over pulp.
My solution to this (and to dull skin at the same time) is to make an incredible gorgeous, gentle but effective face scrub with the leftover nut pulp.
This scrub is literally good enough to eat, and so should everything that we put on our largest organ be, as a very large proportion is released into the blood stream.
You only need you nut-pulp any will do, here I’m using coconut, olive oil and some beautiful smelling aromatherapy oil.
Mix it and start scrubbing!

Monthly Beauty Buys

20140216205204(2)

These are my latest non-toxic beauty buys:
The cleansing milk and the face oil are both from Swedish brand Estelle & Thild.
I normally go for a cleansing oil but this one is really creamy and thick and I can get the eye make up off as well.
The youth oil smells lovely and It’s not to thick or to light, just perfect!
I needed a new mascara, and after having gone through most non-toxic versions on the market, the Organic Glam mascara in black is my favourite for va-va-voom lashes.
To make my eyes pop a bit, I rely on a thin eyeliner line and this one  by Lavera does the job!
I also got a natural nail polish remover from Benecos.
It works, but you have to use a bit more elbow-grease to get the nails clean and shiny, something I’m completely happy to do, to help us all 🙂

Monthly Beauty Buys

20140104155317(1)

This month’s beauty buys included the most important item in my make-up bag: Tweezermans slanted tweezers.
I thought I lost mine and ran to Whole Foods for a new one,
of course I found it under my bed when I was vacuuming a few hours later.
The shampoo from Intelligent Nutrients is completely gluten-free and smells minty and up-lifting.
The tinted lip moisturizer is from my fave brand Ilia and is in the super flattering colour Blossom Lady.
I needed a new body moisturizer and this one by Balance Me smells lovely of rose otto and I like the fact they are stocked by Waitrose.
I also got a new christmassy red colour nail polish from Kure Bazar in Cherie.
Kure Bazaar is definitely my favorinte non-toxic nail polish brand as the polish is really long-lasting in comes in great on trend colours.

Monthly Beauty Buys

20131129173428(2)

This month beauty buys included three repeat-buys:

My much loved  Shu Uemura eye lash curler retired after years of hard graft and had to be replaced with another one, exactly the same.

I buy a new  Ilia lipstick in In my bedroom every couple of months. It’s non-toxic and the colour is a mega flattering natural soft pink that manages to bring some swish to my gloomy autumn face.

Living Natures foundation (in Pure Fawn) is a great lightweight foundation without any nasties
It’s the perfect every day foundation and leaves the skin dewy and soft.

I needed a new blusher and tried out a few non-toxic ones before I settled for Jane Iridales beautiful mineral blush in Barley Rose.

French brand Kure Bazaar’s nail polishes are as natural they can be without compromising on performance.
I needed a  boring base coat, but will defiantly try the deep red cherry coloured Scandal next time.

Monthly Beauty Buys

20131029181556(2)

This month’s beauty buys is my antidote to all the football, Minecraft and total disgust for the colour pink in my house.
My boys have reached the grand age of 11 and 7 respectively and are so totally boyish it’s ridicules.
For the whole of one week they styled their hair a-la Beckham before going to school, but now they just can’t be bothered at all, so much for future metro-men.
The hand crème from Lavera and the face wash from Melvita both smells beautifully of roses. (My absolute favourite scent!)
I can really recommend the mascara from Organic Glam if you are after super volume, high impact lashes without toxic chemicals.
And the Mermaid shampoo… well I would lie if I said the name and packaging didn’t seduce me (who would not like mermaid hair!) thankfully it’s all natural and smells deliscious, the only flaw is the price at £26 .

Beauty Buys in August

20130918161434(1)

I managed to pack my own bag, the kids bags and made them dinner in only 20 minutes as we set off to Stockholm this summer.
This is a record for me!
Needless to say there were necessary items that did not come with us, like body wash and shampoo, hence a mad rush for new products as soon as we landed.

I bought Bjork and Berries gorgeously scented Never Spring body wash .
Bjork and Berries describe themselves as an eco luxury beauty brand derived by Swedish nature and traditions.
The body wash contains no sulphates but a “mild preservatives”. You can get this brand in the UK and online.

I also got Estelle and Thilde shampoo and conditioner, another Swedish brand.
I find this shampoo keeps my hair clean for one day longer than other shampoos, it doesn’t lather greatly but certainly cleans well.
The conditioner first feels heavy when you put it in your hand but when you apply it to the hair it sort of disappears and it’s not heavy at all.

I can’t live without lipstick.
If I could only chose one product to use for the rest of my life it would be a lipstick and I’m particularly impressed with Ilia’s lipstick In My Room.
This is a repeat buy for me, I pray it’s never discontinued!
It’s the perfect nude.

I’m all for extra sparkle to my skin when going out and Living Luminizer by RMS does the trick.
It’s really subtle and sheer and very easy to use.
I apply it to my cheeks, bridge of the nose and just above the eye brows.

Video: Homemade Eczema Cream

In this video I’ll show you have to make a really easy cream especially for eczema skin.
Of course no cream is going to remove the eczema, you need to deal with the underlying cause which can be very tricky.

When you take care of the eczema the skin should be kept moisturized and soft so it’s not getting extra itchy and that’s where a good cream is useful.
This simple homemade cream is easy to make and will in the long run be less expensive than lotions buy in the health store.
Also you can tailor the ingredients to suit your personal allergies.
